2025 marks 55 yaers of meditation practice for me. Always the best part of my morning. A peaceful, often blissful 20 minutes, like a morphine high without the morphine.
Here are a couple of things I've learned. Meditation is simple, and free, no equipment needed. You don't need to chant, join a group, sit in a full lotus position, or sit on a zafu (special mediation pillow), light insence or have a guy in a black robe hit you with a stick, or sit in a cave or a mountain top.
Five to twenty minutes, sitting quietly, pay attention to your breathing will bring you calm and insights.
If you notice anytime during your meditation you are smiling, then you are doing it correctly.
